2019 DFV Syrah


Oak aromas of cocoa, smoke, sweet baking spice and graphite


Oak aromas of cocoa, smoke, sweet baking spice and graphite. There’s a slight meaty quality, sweet tobacco contrasted with bright fruit of raspberries, and blueberries. On the palate this wine has tight tannins which will develop more with aging, its medium bodied.





Vineyard Notes

Syrah sourced from our estate vineyards in the Santa Clara AVA located in the Central Coast. Estrella clone on rootstock SO4, planted originally in 1990.

Winemaker Notes

Harvested October 23, 2019 and given 2 days to soak on skins. Fermentation lasted 11 days. Aged in 30% new french oak and 70% neutral french oak for 18 months.

Food Pairing Notes

Big and bold flavors will work such as bar-b-q pork, a rich pork shoulder or anything with big umami flavors. Utilizing spices such as cumin, pepper and or coriander contrast well and bring out the fruity characteristics in this wine. If you prefer a sweeter flavor profile soy and plum sauce will also similarly lift the fruit in this wine.
